Music Spotlight
randomindianguy @Pop: “For years now, this song has been my all time favourite. I'd discovered this duo in the early days of lockdown. It goes down as one of my favourite finds! I found this particular song in mid 2020. Since then, this song has been on my most played list every. single. week.
This song in particular talks about adolescence. More specifically, about the nostalgic views of adolescence we tend to have. I think it had quite a profound impact on me because of the situation we were in then (ie, lockdown). I yearned for the time pre lockdown. Going back to college, being around people etc.
To the song's credit, it's one banger of a song. IIRC, l'd listened to this song over 70 times on a single day back in 2020! Unfortunately, the duo broke up. But their discography still holds up as one of the best I've heard.”
On Our Minds
🍿 Movies: Taste of Cherry is an Iranian movie about a man who wishes to commit suicide, and is looking for someone who will bury him after death. The film poignantly chronicles his journey. Hellaro is a story of a group of suppressed women from a village in Gujarat and how they find someone in the desert who changes their lives forever.
🎾 Tennis: In a match that lasted 3 hours 49 minutes (the longest best-of-three sets final in the history of Tennis!) Djokovic & Alcaraz took their amazing rivalry, and tennis to a whole new level 🔥 After the gruelling match their humility and graciousness to each other and everyone around in the post match ceremony is what makes the sport so special!
🤯 Dayummm: India is digging the world’s highest tunnel at Zoji La, Kashmir. This video documents the politics, the engineering, and the worker psychology behind it, and it’s truly fascinating! Source
🧬 Science & Tech: Scientists recreate a Pink Floyd song by reading the brain activity of people who were listening to it 🫨. Source
🧑🏽💻 Dev Corner: In the coming month, we will be completely refactoring our onboarding experience, and creating a new channel for introductions. This should make our UX much more delightful for new members from here on. Moreover, Lishash is out of invite only beta, and we are open to everyone with a Spotify account now!
